Sally & David’s Beautiful Grangefields Wedding | Derbyshire Wedding Photography

There’s something incredibly special about a Grangefields wedding, and Sally and David’s beautiful day was a wonderful example of everything that makes this Derbyshire wedding venue so memorable.

Set within the historic Trusley Estate in Derbyshire, Grangefields is a beautifully restored barn wedding venue surrounded by sweeping countryside. With exposed brick, timber, soaring ceilings, a beautiful courtyard and plenty of natural light, it offers an incredible setting for relaxed, natural and romantic Derbyshire wedding photography.

For Sally and David, their wedding day was full of all the things I love about photographing weddings: beautiful details, genuine emotion, plenty of laughter and a brilliant group of people who were there simply to celebrate them.

From the quiet excitement of the morning preparations to a packed dance floor in the evening, their Grangefields wedding was a joy to capture.

Getting Ready for a Grangefields Wedding

The morning of a wedding is always one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph.

There’s something about those early hours — the anticipation, the excitement, the little details being put into place and the feeling that everyone is waiting for the moment the celebrations really begin.

For Sally, getting ready was all about spending time with the people closest to her before heading to the ceremony.

Her bridal look came together beautifully, thanks to an amazing team of wedding suppliers.

Bridal Makeup by Gemma Baxter

Sally’s wedding makeup was created by Gemma Baxter, a Cheshire and North West bridal makeup artist and bridal skin specialist. Gemma specialises in luxury, long-lasting bridal makeup and personalised wedding-day looks.

The finished look was elegant and natural, allowing Sally to look and feel like herself while photographing beautifully throughout the day.

Bridal Hair by Katie Senior

Katie Senior completed Sally’s bridal look with beautiful wedding hair, adding the perfect finishing touch before she stepped into her dress.

It’s those little details that make the morning so special — the final touches, the excitement of seeing the finished look and, of course, the moment the bride puts on her dress.

Sally’s Wedding Dress from Elizabeth Louise Bridal

And what a dress it was.

Sally chose her beautiful wedding dress from Elizabeth Louise Bridal, a family-run bridal boutique in Hoole, Chester, founded by sisters Hollie Elizabeth and Hannah Louise.

Established in 2015, Elizabeth Louise Bridal specialises in designer wedding dresses and private, one-to-one bridal appointments, with a carefully curated collection of modern and timeless gowns. The boutique describes its approach as personal and relaxed, helping each bride find a dress that reflects her individual style.

Sally’s gown fitted beautifully with the overall feel of her Grangefields wedding — effortlessly elegant, modern and romantic.

A Beautiful Grangefields Wedding Venue

If you’re searching for a wedding venue in Derbyshire, Grangefields is hard to beat for atmosphere and photographic opportunities.

Located on the historic Trusley Estate, the venue combines beautifully restored historic buildings with contemporary spaces. The red-brick ceremony barn has soaring vaulted ceilings, while the dining room, courtyard and surrounding countryside provide plenty of variety throughout the wedding day.

For a wedding photographer, that variety is fantastic.

There are atmospheric indoor spaces for intimate photographs, beautiful architectural details to work with and countryside surroundings for portraits. As the light changes throughout the day, the venue takes on a completely different feel — from bright and airy during the day to warm and atmospheric as the evening celebrations begin.

It meant that Sally and David’s Grangefields wedding photography could include a mixture of natural documentary moments, beautiful portraits and all the little details that told the story of their day.

Wedding Styling by My Pretties UK

The styling played an important part in bringing Sally and David’s wedding vision together, with Jen from My Pretties UK creating the look for the day.

My Pretties UK specialises in bespoke wedding styling, fresh florals and personalised event design. Founder Jen creates cohesive designs that are tailored to the couple, their venue and the atmosphere they want to create.

The styling worked beautifully alongside Grangefields’ natural character, complementing the exposed brick, timber and contemporary spaces rather than competing with them.

It’s one of the things I love about photographing weddings at Grangefields: the venue already has so much character, and thoughtful styling can enhance that while still allowing the personality of the couple to shine through.

Time to Celebrate

Keeping the energy up one of my favourite times of the day was squad portraits. Dancing in the fields as the sun goes down with your best mates – blasting out ibiza classics from the hen do was a vibe!

Once the ceremony, portraits and wedding breakfast were over, it was time for the party to begin.

And with Benny Smyth providing the music, the dance floor was ready for the evening celebrations.

Benny Smyth provides professional wedding DJ and entertainment services, with more than 20 years of experience and a focus on high-quality sound, lighting and a personalised service.

This is often when some of my favourite wedding photographs happen.

The formalities are finished, everyone has relaxed and the camera becomes almost an afterthought. Friends and family are dancing, laughing, hugging and celebrating together — exactly as a wedding should be.

Those genuine, unposed moments are a huge part of my approach to wedding photography. I want couples to remember not just how their wedding looked, but how it felt.

Relaxed, Natural Wedding Photography at Grangefields

Looking back at Sally and David’s wedding, what stands out most is how genuinely happy everyone was.

There were beautiful details and incredible surroundings, but it was the people and the atmosphere that made the photographs.

That’s what I love about documentary-style wedding photography. Rather than taking you away from your guests for hours of photographs, the aim is to capture your day as it naturally unfolds — the anticipation, the emotion, the laughter, the happy tears and the wonderfully chaotic moments in between.

There is still plenty of time for beautiful portraits, of course. But the majority of the day is about being present and enjoying it.

And Grangefields provides an incredible backdrop for that approach.

Sally & David’s Grangefields Wedding

Sally and David’s wedding was a beautiful combination of relaxed celebrations, elegant details and plenty of personality.

From Sally’s stunning bridal look and the thoughtful styling by My Pretties UK, to the beautiful surroundings of Grangefields and a packed dance floor later in the evening, every part of the day came together perfectly.

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph their wedding and capture all those little moments that might otherwise pass in an instant.

If you’re planning a Grangefields wedding and are looking for a Derbyshire wedding photographer to capture your day in a relaxed, natural and timeless way, I’d love to hear from you.
